Install Checklist
A workable install checklist for South African floors covering delivery access, positioning, power supply, and machine commissioning.
How Install Checklist helps on a machine delivery week
The Install Checklist helps a workshop prepare before a machine arrives from Crown Mines. It covers access for delivery, floor position, lifting requirements, power supply, and the checks to complete before commissioning.
Before dispatch, note the machine class, landed weight, and the doorway or roller shutter it must pass through. For Johannesburg sites, the checklist should also record crane or forklift access, transformer size, and whether the supply is 380V three phase or another arrangement. Space around the machine matters for tailstock travel, swarf clearing, and safe loading with a pallet jack or slings.
Take site photos before the truck leaves Crown Mines. Include the offload point, any step or ramp, the final machine position, and the incoming cable route to the isolator. Mark down loose items as well, such as chucks, steadies, guards, coolant tanks, and manuals, so nothing is missed during unloading.
Offload and positioning checks
A useful install checklist covers access width, lifting method, and the final orientation of the machine in the workshop. It should also capture foundation condition, levelling points, and the power checks required before first start. That record helps the electrician, rigger, and operator work from the same information on delivery day.
Prepare the details that matter before commissioning starts. Record the machine model, serial plate, electrical requirements, and any site issue that may delay installation, then send it through the contact form with access notes and the planned machine position. Include note of missing air lines, damaged trench covers, or a DB board that still needs spare capacity.
- Door widths measured before transport
- Power supply confirmed at machine position
- Loose accessories listed for offload
Site conditions around Crown Mines
Many Gauteng workshops have tight yards, shared loading areas, and limited turning space for a larger truck. The checklist should note gate width, surface condition, and whether a lowbed, Hiab, or forklift will be used to place the machine. If the route crosses drains, uneven concrete, or steel plates, add that detail before transport is booked.
Power quality and housekeeping affect first commissioning. Dust around open switchgear, oil on the intended footprint, and poor lighting near the control panel can all slow installation and testing. On coastal sites, add corrosion condition on plugs, isolators, and exposed terminals to the pre-delivery notes.

Commissioning details to record
Use the install checklist for site photos, power timing, and anything already not working. Keep the subject line accurate.
Once the machine is in position, the checklist should cover levelling, lubrication points, coolant fill, rotation check, and safety stop function. It is also the right place to note any vibration, unusual sound, or transport damage seen at first power-up. Keep those notes with the job file so later service work starts from the actual install condition.
